Return goods against the original sale
Use the original sale where possible so products and refund values remain linked to the original transaction. Recording a return and actually refunding money are separate checks.
Steps
- Open Returns. If original-sale returns are enabled, find the sale by date and number and select the items being returned.
- Enter the actual returned quantity without exceeding the remaining returnable quantity. Check return mode, negative quantities and the refund total.
- Verify the refund method. External card refunds require the configured device workflow and original payment evidence.
- Confirm, retain the return number and inspect the original sale and return in history. Print the return record when needed.
- If abandoning the return, exit return mode before the next ordinary sale.
Only the received goods were returned, the return record is queryable and the actual refund has evidence.
Direct returns depend on store options and permissions. Check date, store and returnable quantities before concluding that an original sale is missing.
